«WE DO NOT WANT WAR WITH IRAN»: RETIRED GENERALS, ADMIRALS AND FORMER AMBASSADORS OF THE UNITED STATES CALLED ON TRUMP TO COME TO THEIR SENSES
Despite the statement of us President trump that he does not intend to wage war with Iran, the US continues to expand its military presence in the Middle East. It became known that us President decided to send an additional force of 1,500 soldiers to the Middle East. Amid growing tensions between the two countries 76 American retired generals, admirals and ambassadors have signed an open letter to the US President, urging him not to start a war with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
«We are writing to you to Express our deep concern over the current escalation of tensions with Iran in the Persian Gulf. The mutual hostility between the United States and Iran, the accelerated deployment of a strike aircraft carrier group and b-52 bombers in the region, as well as reports of Iran’s preparations for attacks on us military and diplomatic facilities are of serious concern and lead to a potentially deadly confrontation. The war with Iran, whether by choice or miscalculation, will lead to dramatic consequences in the already destabilized Middle East and will drag the United States into another armed conflict with huge financial, human and geopolitical costs,» the letter said.
The letter also notes that Washington and Tehran «take action», which is regarded by the whole world at best as a dangerous provocation, at worst – the beginning of military action.
