«Tornado-S», surpassed NATO counterparts, entered service in Russia
The Russian army adopted the first brigade of the MLRS «Tornado-S». Earlier it was reported that «Tornado-C» surpassed all NATO MLRS in technical characteristics. There are no analogs of this system at present.
The fact that now the first brigade of multiple launch rocket systems of the new generation «Tornado-C» entered the Russian army this year, said Deputy Director General of the concern «Techmash» Alexander Kochkin.
«As for the further development of «Tornado», here we have a new system of «Tornado-C», — he said on the sidelines of the exhibition MILEX-2019, his answer quoted by RIA Novosti. — The first jet brigade this year was delivered to the armed forces, the pilot operation began.»
At the end of last year, the commander-in-chief of the Land forces Oleg Salyukov said that the jet connection is planned to receive «Tornado-C», which will be significantly upgraded characteristics: for example, increase the power and range and accuracy. Earlier it was reported that the capabilities of «smart fuses» MLRS «Tornado», which will be equipped with Russian multiple launch rocket systems, including «Tornado-G», were presented during the defense exhibition IDEX in the United Arab Emirates. The head of the concern «Techmash» announced that the prototypes will be ready in 2020.
Next-generation fuses for MLRS will appear four years after their predecessors. «Tehmash» there have been developments that allow them to be equipped with intelligent systems. «Smart» fuses can be trusted to make a decision about the moment of detonation at a certain point of the trajectory.
