Ukraine’s Ambassador to Berlin called on the German authorities to ban a train to Crimea to a member of the Bundestag Committee on international Affairs Waldemar Gerdt. This politician, led by the German delegation, said during the V Yalta international economic forum.according to Gerdt, official Berlin put serious pressure on him because of this trip. He also noted that it is possible not to visit the Crimea, if not for the letter of the Ambassador of Ukraine to the German Foreign Ministry.
“On the basis of this letter, our diplomats advised me not to visit Yalta. I believe that if the German foreign Ministry obeys the request of the Ukrainian Ambassador, we will degrade at the level of a Banana Republic. Imagine that such a letter would be sent by the Russian Ambassador. He would have been expelled the same day. Our government, instead of politely refusing Mr. Ambassador, submits to Kiev,” complains the German politician.
He also noted that he faces a real term in Ukraine for a visit to Yalta. “To date, I have no plans to go to this country and I will not do it until the country returns to normal,” the politician explained.
