ANKARA WILL DEMAND RETURN OF THE $1.25 BILLION ALREADY PAID TO WASHINGTON
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that if Ankara is excluded from the F-35 program, the country through the arbitration process will seek the return of $1.25 billion already paid by the US for fighters. He said this in an interview with the Japanese edition of Nikkei during a visit to the g-20 summit in Osaka.
«We have already paid them $1.25 billion for the F-35 project. If they take such a wrong step, we will raise this issue in the international arbitration court, we want them to return us back the money already paid,» Erdogan said.
The Turkish leader added that he intends to discuss this issue with his American counterpart Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
